Former Member of Parliament Nama Nageswara Rao has demanded a thorough investigation following repeated incidents of food poisoning at the Kallur Tribal Girls’ Ashram School. Expressing serious concern, he urged state authorities to identify and punish those responsible for the negligence. He also emphasized the urgent need to ensure safe drinking water, nutritious food, and proper hygiene standards in the school.
The latest incident occurred on Saturday evening when ten girl students complained of nausea, vomiting, and severe stomach pain shortly after dinner. The meal served reportedly included rice, potato curry, and dal. Alarmingly, this was the third such episode in less than two weeks, raising red flags about food safety and hostel management.
On Sunday morning, hostel staff transported the sick students to the government hospital in Kallur for medical care. The attending physician later confirmed that all affected girls were in stable condition and out of danger.
Local administrative officials, including the Tahsildar, visited the school campus to review the situation. They interacted with the students and staff to gather firsthand details about the food served and the sequence of events that followed.
The recurring nature of these health scares has sparked community concern, prompting calls for improved oversight and better living conditions for the students.
