
Increasing number of suicide cases at Metro Stations
A 21-year-old student from DY Patil College, Pimpri Chinchwad, attempted to die by suicide by leaping from Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro Station around 6 PM on Monday. Police reports indicate that financial struggles and family pressure might have contributed to his distress. He was rushed to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigation Underway
Senior police inspector Ashok Kadlag stated, “The exact motive is unclear, but his friends mentioned he was facing severe financial issues and family-related stress.” Authorities are conducting a detailed probe to understand the circumstances leading to the incident.
Similar Incident in Mumbai
In a related case from October last year, a 22-year-old student died by suicide after jumping off the Goregaon Metro station. Initial investigations revealed that academic pressure from his parents played a role in his distress. Eyewitnesses reported seeing him walking on the metro tracks before leaping onto the road.
