
Karnataka Bolsters Healthcare Infrastructure in Raichur District
The Karnataka government has unveiled comprehensive plans to enhance healthcare services in Raichur district. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced the construction of a district hospital in Lingsugur and a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) hospital in Devadurga.
These developments were highlighted during the inauguration of Mega Health Camp 2025 in Manvi town, organized in collaboration with the National Health Mission, district administration, Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), and other departments. The camp aims to provide free medical check-ups and treatments to residents.
In addition to the new hospitals, eight primary health centers have been approved for Raichur district. The primary health centers in Gabbur and Potnal are being upgraded to community health centers. Furthermore, four 30-bed community health centers are being expanded to 50-bed hospitals.
Minister Rao emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access, encouraging residents to utilize these facilities for affordable treatment. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has distributed health cards to over 20 lakh people. Additionally, Rs 320 crore has been allocated to reduce maternal mortality and enhance medical facilities statewide.
These initiatives underscore Karnataka’s dedication to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions like Raichur district.
