Swift Response Saves Mother and Baby in Emergency Home Birth
In a dramatic turn of events, Pavitra, a pregnant woman from Gadag residing in Thottam, Malpe, gave birth to a baby at home on July 4. Pavitra went into labor at 11:30 AM. Despite contacting the ASHA worker and calling the 108 ambulance service, the ambulance did not arrive in time, resulting in Pavitra delivering the baby at home.
The ASHA worker then contacted Ishwar Malpe, a social worker, and his team, who promptly responded to the emergency. They quickly arrived at the house near the Thottam Coastal Youth Association and transported the mother and newborn to Haji Abdullah Hospital in Udupi, ensuring no excessive bleeding occurred during transit.
Doctors and staff at Haji Abdullah Hospital provided the necessary medical care, and both the mother and baby are now safe. Ishwar Malpe and his team’s swift action played a crucial role in saving their lives.
