Tragedy Strikes Wedding as Guest Suffers Fatal Cardiac Arrest
A wedding celebration in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, turned somber when a guest, identified as Vamsi, collapsed on stage from a cardiac arrest while greeting the newlyweds. Vamsi, an Amazon employee from Bengaluru, had traveled to Penumada village for his friend’s wedding.
A video of the incident shows Vamsi presenting a gift to the couple amid a cheerful crowd. Moments later, he began losing his balance and leaned to the side, prompting those nearby to catch him. He was rushed to the Dhone City Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead due to cardiac arrest.
Medical experts have raised alarms over the increasing prevalence of cardiac arrests among young people in unexpected situations. Dr. Ravi Gupta, a cardiologist at Wockhardt Hospitals, attributes this rise to factors such as stress, sedentary lifestyles, diabetes, air pollution, and heavy workouts. Genetic predisposition and the adoption of unhealthy habits have further heightened risks for Indians, he added.
Such incidents highlight an urgent need for awareness about heart health, especially among youth. Similar cases, including a teacher in Tamil Nadu who suffered a fatal cardiac arrest during class, underscore this growing concern.
