Tragic Deaths of Women After C-Section at Ballari District Hospital, Husband Attempts Suicide
In a heartbreaking incident in Ballari, Raja attempted suicide by consuming pesticide after his wife, Roja, tragically passed away following a C-section at the district hospital on Friday evening. Roja was one of three women who died after undergoing the procedure in the span of a week. Raja, who had been eagerly awaiting their first child, is currently recovering at a hospital in Gangavathi.
Roja, originally from Yemmiganooru in Kurugodu taluk, was among the women who succumbed to medical complications after childbirth. Along with Nandini and Lalithamma, Roja’s death has raised concerns regarding the treatment at the hospital. All three women died between November 9 and 13, after being administered IV fluids reportedly sourced from a private supplier in West Bengal. Their deteriorating health post-administration of these fluids has led to suspicions of medical complications. Four other women remain in critical condition at the Ballari Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS).
Authorities are investigating the cause of the deaths, while the family and the public demand accountability and clarity on the issue.
