Ludhiana: A 12-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a neighbour and others in Guru Gobind Singh Nagar after he climbed onto a nearby rooftop to fly a kite, police said.

According to a complaint filed by the boy’s mother, Pooja Verma, the incident took place on Friday evening. The child had climbed onto the rooftop of his neighbour Balvir Singh while flying a kite when Singh allegedly began verbally abusing him.

Boy allegedly attacked while returning home

The frightened boy reportedly left the rooftop and started walking towards his home. However, according to the complaint, Balvir Singh and other suspects allegedly surrounded him and assaulted him.

The suspects also allegedly kicked the boy in his private parts during the attack.

As people began gathering at the spot, the alleged attackers reportedly left after threatening the victim.

Family rushes injured child to hospital

The boy’s condition reportedly deteriorated following the assault. His family members reached the spot and rushed him to a hospital for treatment.

The incident has prompted concern among local residents, with the family seeking action against those allegedly involved in the assault.

Police examine CCTV footage

Following the complaint, Daba police registered a case against Balvir Singh and other suspects.

Police are investigating the allegations and collecting evidence related to the incident. CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area is also being examined as part of the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the assault and the roles of the other alleged suspects are expected to become clearer as the investigation progresses.
