Lucknow: Fifteen schoolchildren died while 40 others were injured in a tragic road accident on Thursday morning in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh.

The accident took place in Aliganj town where a private school bus was hit by a speeding truck on the Patiali road.
Fog was the main cause of the accident, an official said. The bus had more than 60 students and at least 15 school children are dead.
According to police, eight children were killed on the spot, while the rest were declared dead in the hospital.

A rescue team accompanied by locals rushed to the spot and took the injured children to a nearby hospital.
While schools in the state have been closed until Friday 20 due to poor weather conditions, the J.S. Public school to which the bus belonged was open.
