Bengaluru: Suryanagar and Anekal residents will soon be receiving water from the Cauvery river with the State cabinet approving a grant of Rs 68.55 crore for the project on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters here after the meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said that the project will be implemented by Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) and would involve drawing 30 million litres per day (MLD) of water from the already allocated share of Karnataka’s Cauvery water for drinking purpose.
Approvals were also granted to tenders for a similar project to supply Cauvery water to 110 villages, which were newly added to BBMP. The project envisages to draw 810 MLD of water from TK Halli reservoir. Pipe-laying and other works of the project would be completed in 24 months and Rs 167crore was granted for the project.
