In a tragic incident, a four-year-old boy died after allegedly consuming a toxic powder mixture in Govindaraopet village of Pasara mandal.
The child has been identified as E Ashwin Nandan.
Child entered nursery while playing
According to reports, the boy was playing near his house when he entered a Haritha Vanam nursery maintained by the gram panchayat.
There, he reportedly found a packet containing roasted rice flour (sattu pindi) and consumed it.
Soon after, the child developed vomiting and severe abdominal pain.
Shifted to hospital, later died
Family members first rushed him to the Government Hospital in Mulugu.
He was later shifted to MGM Hospital, where he died during treatment.
Father alleges poison used for monkeys
The child’s father E Srikanth alleged doctors informed the family that the powder had been mixed with poisonous pellets.
He claimed such mixtures were locally used to feed monkeys and demanded strict action against those responsible for leaving the substance inside the nursery.
Police begin investigation
Pasara Police said samples were collected from the spot.
Preliminary inquiry suggested that Balamrutham powder, usually distributed through Anganwadi centres, had been mixed with pellets and placed there.
