Bhopal: Two coaches of the A.P. Express caught fire near Birlanagar in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, May 21. Firefighters continue to battle the raging flames, said railway officials.
According to them, B6 and B7 are the coaches that caught fire. So far, there have been no reports of casualties. A witness however, managed to capture video of the inferno with smoke rushing out of the doors of the AC coaches.
The fire originated in the B6 coach at around 11.50 am and soon spread to the adjacent coach B7, Ved Prakash, a Railway Ministry spokesperson said.
Following the fire, the guard stopped the train and shifted the passengers of the B-6 and B-7 coaches to other coaches. The train then reached Gwalior, he said.
The train was on its way from Vishakapatnam to Hazrat Nizamuddin, the official said. An inquiry has been ordered into the accident.
