Gurugram: A 36-year-old man has been arrested by the Gurugram police in connection with the murder case of a 40-year-old arms dealer, Manish Bhardwaj.

Bhardwaj was allegedly killed by the accused — Sunny Kant, in Gurugram’s New Colony area on June 7.

The police have also recovered a revolver which was used in the crime, 2 live cartridges and one empty shell from his possession.

According to the police, Bhardwaj, Sunny Kant and Pramod alias Bablu — driver of Bhardwaj, were travelling in a Bolero car on June 7.

The trio drove around in the car for almost two hours. When Sunny was about to get down from the car to pick up his Scooty in the New Colony area, he allegedly shot him four-five times from behind inside the vehicle and fled.

Bhardwaj was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

“Sunny disclosed that he and Manish were good friends. He had borrowed about Rs 20 lakh from Manish who was asking to return the amount and also harassing him so he killed him. The duo were earlier booked by the Gurugram police in a fake arms licence scam which was busted in 2017,” Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime) said.

The police had recovered seven illegal weapons and 5,000 illegal cartridges from Bhardwaj’s possession.
