A shocking case of violence has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, where an Indian Army soldier was brutally assaulted by toll plaza employees on Sunday night. The incident took place at the Bhuni Toll Plaza under Sarurpur police station limits and was captured on video, which later went viral on social media.
The soldier, identified as Kapil Kavad, was reportedly returning from his hometown after leave and heading towards Delhi Airport to board a flight for Srinagar, where he was due to rejoin duty. According to police, a long traffic jam at the toll plaza led Kapil to question the staff. This triggered an argument, following which the toll employees allegedly ganged up against him.
The disturbing footage shows nearly 10 men thrashing the soldier. While four to five men held him by his arms against a pole, others kicked, slapped, and struck him with sticks.
Following a complaint from the soldier’s family, the Meerut Police registered an FIR and swiftly arrested four prime accused. A manhunt has been launched to nab the remaining suspects.
In an official statement, Meerut Police confirmed that serious charges have been filed, and further investigation is underway. “Strict action will be taken against all involved,” a senior officer assured.
The assault has sparked outrage online, with many demanding stricter measures to protect armed forces personnel from such public humiliation.
