An Indian Army soldier died of suspected cardiac arrest while on duty along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials confirmed.

Soldier found unconscious on duty

The deceased has been identified as Naik Tilak Singh, who was deployed in the forward Nangi Takri area in the Krishna Ghati sector. He was found unconscious on March 15 while performing his duties along the LoC.

Despite immediate medical assistance, the soldier could not be revived, officials said.

Army pays tribute

The Army’s White Knight Corps paid tribute to the soldier through a post on X (formerly Twitter), honouring his dedication and service.

“His unwavering courage and commitment to duty exemplify the finest traditions of the Indian Army. His supreme sacrifice will continue to inspire generations,” the post stated.

Service under challenging conditions

Troops deployed along the LoC often operate under physically demanding conditions, including extreme weather, high alertness, and continuous operational readiness.

Officials noted that further formalities and honours will be conducted as per military protocol.

The loss has once again highlighted the sacrifices made by soldiers serving in forward areas to safeguard the nation’s borders.
