New Delhi: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, on Wednesday, May 1, criticised an editorial by the Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ that demanded a ban on burqa.
Reacting to the editorial, he said that if wearing burqa was posing a threat to national security, then what did Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh’s attire indicate,
Meanwhile, he has also termed Saamna ‘popatmaster’ (fool).
Earlier, Saamna, in its editorial had said that burqa ban was as essential as surgical strikes. It also said that the ban on it was demanded by Shiv Sena, long ago and citing the example of Sri Lanka implementing the same after the Easter Sunday serial explosion.
The editorial has also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to when burqa would be banned in Ayodhya, the birth place of deity Ram.
The mouthpiece has termed burqa a ‘threat to national security’ citing that it makes it difficult to identify potential threats.
It has demanded for its ban stating that if that was interfering with the national security, then it was very important to end such religious practices.
Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi has also slammed the Shiv Sena for joining hands with PM Modi, despite the alleged cold war between them.
