In a bizarre and celebratory twist, a man from Assam marked his divorce not with a party, but by bathing himself in milk. The man, identified as Manik Ali, said he felt liberated after legally separating from his wife, who had eloped multiple times during their marriage.

In a video that has now gone viral on social media, Ali is seen with four buckets of milk, pouring them over himself while declaring in Assamese, “I am free from today.” Reports suggest he used nearly 40 litres of milk for the celebration. Locals told NDTV that Ali had kept quiet about his wife’s repeated elopements to preserve peace within the family. “My lawyer informed me the divorce is final. So today, I’m celebrating my freedom,” Ali is heard saying in the video.

His unconventional celebration sparked comparisons to another unusual divorce celebration in Haryana last year. In that instance, a man named Manjeet threw a full-fledged party after divorcing his wife, Komal. The event featured a giant poster showing their wedding and divorce dates, several cakes, and even a mannequin symbolizing his ex-wife, with whom Manjeet posed for photos.

Both incidents ignited widespread discussion on social media. While some users found the displays humorous, others criticized the public theatrics of personal events, noting the growing trend of divorce celebrations in India.
