A 30-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife in Laguniya Raghukanth village, Samastipur, Bihar, after reportedly uncovering her extramarital relationship with their children’s tuition teacher.

The deceased, identified as Sonu Kumar, son of Tuntun Jha, was found lying in a pool of blood inside his residence on Saturday morning. His wife, Smita Jha, has been taken into custody by Mufassil police based on initial suspicion, according to a report by Live Hindustan. A murder case has been registered, and the body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination.

According to the family, Sonu had been married to Smita for six years, and the couple had two children. However, their relationship was reportedly strained, with frequent arguments. The situation worsened after Sonu allegedly caught Smita in a compromising position with Hariom Kumar, a local tutor. Though Hariom initially stopped visiting, he later resumed tutoring the children of Sonu’s elder brother — an act which allegedly rekindled conflict between the couple.

Sonu’s father said his son returned home around midnight after driving his auto-rickshaw. The next morning, he found Sonu’s body with visible injuries to the neck and claimed Smita was sitting silently nearby. He alleged that she killed Sonu with help from others.

The police have detained Smita Jha for questioning and are verifying the family’s claims. An investigation is underway to identify others who may have been involved.
