In a bid to motivate and guide young minds, Dindigul district collector S Saravanan hosted a special session titled ‘Coffee with Collector’ for Class XII government school students. Held on Monday, the gathering brought together around 25 students from across the district for an informal yet insightful discussion.

Joined by Dindigul superintendent of police A Pradeep and several administrative officers, the collector engaged with the students in a relaxed setting. The conversation centred around the students’ aspirations for higher education, with many of them opening up about their ambitions and dilemmas regarding subject selection.

Saravanan highlighted that the primary purpose of the initiative was to ignite a passion for learning and help students explore diverse academic and professional paths. He stressed that nearly 20,000 students from Dindigul appear for the Class XII board exams annually, and every one of them deserves to dream big and aim higher.

The collector also advised students to leverage the resources and schemes available through government schools. He elaborated on preparing for civil service exams and performing well in campus recruitment processes, encouraging students to start early.

In an inspiring moment, a student shared his goal of joining the army. SP Pradeep responded with a valuable suggestion — that the student could complete a bachelor’s degree before enrolling in the armed forces.

As a thoughtful gesture, all attendees received books featuring the stirring poetry and songs of Tamil literary legend Mahakavi Bharathiyar.
