The shocking murder of 22-year-old Vipin Kumar in Paldi Meena, about 10 km from Jaipur, triggered massive protests on Monday, bringing traffic on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway to a standstill for several hours. The victim was stabbed at least 14 times in public, allegedly by Mohammad Anas and his associates, late Sunday night.

Anas, described by police as a “history-sheeter” with over a dozen cases registered against him at the Jamdoli Police Station, reportedly posted a chilling message on social media claiming the attack was an act of revenge. Tensions flared Monday morning as large crowds gathered to protest, demanding justice for Kumar. Protesters attempted to block roads and damaged shops, allegedly targeting establishments linked to a particular community.

Authorities acted swiftly and arrested Anas and five others by Monday afternoon. During the arrest, Anas allegedly tried to grab an assistant sub-inspector’s service weapon, prompting police to shoot him in the leg. He is currently undergoing treatment under police custody.

The victim’s family refused to allow a postmortem until their demands were fulfilled, which included financial compensation, a government job, and swift legal action. The administration accepted the demands, leading to the withdrawal of the protest by evening. However, tensions in the area remain high.

DCP (East) Tejaswani Gautam confirmed that the motive is under investigation. Local sources cited a long-standing dispute—possibly over a girl or a past altercation involving a goat—that had strained relations between Kumar and Anas for two years.
