In a spine-chilling case that mirrors the plot of the Bollywood film Drishyam, a man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover, with his body buried beneath floor tiles inside their home in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

Vijay Chavan, 35, had been missing for over two weeks. He lived with his 28-year-old wife, Komal Chavan, in the Gadgapada area of Nalasopara East, around 70 km from Mumbai. When Vijay’s brothers visited the house on Monday morning, they noticed that certain floor tiles looked out of place and were a different colour. Their suspicion deepened due to a strong stench coming from the area.

Upon removing the mismatched tiles, they discovered a vest buried beneath them, confirming their fears. They alerted the local police, who arrived at the scene and unearthed Vijay’s decomposing body buried beneath the flooring.

Police investigations suggest that Komal, along with a neighbour named Monu—believed to be her lover—might be behind the murder. Both have been missing for the past two days and are now the prime suspects in the case.

Authorities suspect a premeditated act, possibly motivated by the illicit relationship between Komal and Monu. The nature of the burial indicates an attempt to conceal the crime permanently.

The incident has left the local community in shock, drawing eerie comparisons to the fictional concealment of a body in Drishyam. A manhunt is underway to trace Komal and Monu, as police continue their investigation into this gruesome crime.
