In a chilling case that unfolded in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka, police investigating the murder of 36-year-old Karan Dev uncovered damning Instagram chats between his wife and her alleged lover, revealing a cold-blooded murder plot.
According to investigators, Sushmita, 35, was in an illicit relationship with Rahul, a 24-year-old relative. Together, the pair orchestrated Dev’s murder on July 13. The probe found that the duo had drugged Dev with 15 sleeping pills mixed into his dinner. When the sedatives didn’t work as quickly as anticipated, the conversation turned even more sinister.
Recovered chats showed the couple had searched online for how long sleeping pills take to cause death. In one message, Sushmita wrote, “Check how long it takes to die after the medicine. It’s been three hours—he ate, no vomiting, no death.” Rahul chillingly responded, “If nothing’s happening, give him a shock.”
Sushmita then asked for instructions on how to tie Dev to deliver the electric shock, to which Rahul suggested using tape. Investigators confirmed that the cause of death was electrocution, and the evidence in the chat logs has become a critical component of the case.
The case has shocked the city, exposing a gruesome conspiracy rooted in betrayal and obsession. Police are now preparing to file formal charges and are pursuing a deeper probe into the couple’s digital trail and motive.
