The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids across various locations in Delhi in connection with a child trafficking case. Three newborn babies were rescued from a residence situated in the Keshavpuram area of the national capital.
CBI sources revealed that newborns were being traded as commodities in the black market. The investigative agency is currently interrogating all involved parties, including both the woman who sold the children and the buyers.
The operation’s scope extends beyond Delhi’s borders, with the CBI arresting individuals involved in trafficking seven to eight children across the National Capital Region (NCR). Among the arrested individuals are a hospital ward boy and several women. Sources within the CBI stated that approximately 10 children were sold within the past month alone, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals.
The CBI’s investigation has now expanded to multiple states, with several prominent hospitals under intense scrutiny. Newborns were reportedly sold for substantial sums ranging from ₹4 to 5 lakh.
Further inquiries into the matter are ongoing, as per statements from the CBI.
