Bengaluru Police arrested five individuals on Friday for assaulting a man identified as Suresh, who works as an auditor with a private firm. Among the arrested, two were colleagues of Suresh, who allegedly hired goons to carry out the attack, stated the police. The arrests came after a video capturing the assault went viral on social media platforms. The video, recorded on the dash camera of a car, depicts the accused individuals beating Suresh with an iron rod on the ring road near Kalyan Nagar.
According to police reports, Suresh is employed as an auditor at a milk product company in Bengaluru. Two of the arrested individuals, Umashankar and Vinesh, also worked at the same company alongside Suresh. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, citing alleged pressure exerted by Suresh. They claimed that Suresh, who joined the company a year ago, enforced strict auditing procedures, particularly concerning stock balance clearance. Allegedly, Suresh’s insistence on prompt clearance was met with resistance by Umashankar and Vinesh, who were accustomed to laxity in this regard prior to Suresh’s arrival. Reportedly, Suresh escalated the matter to the company’s management and took disciplinary action against Umashankar and Vinesh, further aggravating the situation.
In retaliation, Umashankar purportedly contacted a former employee who introduced him to Sandeep, another accused individual. Acting upon Umashankar’s instructions, Sandeep allegedly hired goons from KR Puram to assault Suresh with an iron rod. The police, based in the Hennur area, apprehended the accused individuals after the circulated video gained traction on social media. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
