New Delhi: A bank robbery by six unidentified men ended in tragedy as a cashier was shot dead and three others were injured during the heist. The robbery took place at a Corporation Bank branch in Khaira village at 3.45 PM on Friday, October 12.
The masked men managed to make away with over Rs 3 Lakh, said police. The whole incident was captured by the bank’s CCTV camera and spans a total of 90 seconds. In the footage, the robbers can be seen snatching the rifle away from the security guard and beating him up. Ten customers and six staff members were held hostage at gunpoint during the robbery.
The cashier, identified as Santosh Kumar (25), was shot twice by the robbers as he resisted when they tried to take the money away from him.
After the robbers made their escape on motorcycles, the cashier and the other injured bank patrons were taken to the hospital where Kumar was pronounced brought dead.
So far, no arrests have been made, said police.
