Fresh CCTV footage has surfaced in the fatal road accident near Dwarka that claimed the life of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra earlier this month. The video reportedly shows a 17-year-old driving a Scorpio SUV at high speed moments before colliding head-on with Sahil’s motorcycle.
According to officials from the Delhi Police, the accident occurred on February 3 in West Delhi. The footage shows the SUV narrowly missing a bus before veering across lanes and crashing into Sahil’s bike.
Overspeeding and lane violation
The CCTV clip indicates the SUV was being driven without lane discipline and at excessive speed. In another video reportedly recorded from inside the vehicle, the teen is seen driving fast on a road without a divider shortly before the collision.
Police said the teenager is currently on interim bail in view of his Class 10 board examinations. The SUV has reportedly accumulated 13 traffic challans in the past, including nine for overspeeding. Authorities stated that the minor allegedly did not possess a valid driving licence.
A family’s grief
Sahil’s mother has questioned the delay in emergency response and alleged lapses in handling the injured victim at the accident site. He was taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Friends and family described Sahil as ambitious and driven, with goals for the year ahead written on his bedroom walls — aspirations that now remain unfulfilled.
The case has reignited concerns over juvenile driving, road safety enforcement and accountability in high-speed crashes in the national capital. Further investigation is underway.
