Nikitha, the complainant in the high-profile custodial death case of Ajith Kumar, has resumed her duties as a botany professor at a private college in Dindigul, even as controversy continues to swirl around her role in the incident and her alleged involvement in fraud cases.

The case drew widespread public anger across Tamil Nadu after 28-year-old Ajith Kumar, a security guard at the Madapuram Bathirakaliamman temple near Thirupuvanam, was allegedly beaten to death by the police while in custody. He had been picked up for questioning in a jewellery theft case filed by Nikitha, a resident of Alampatti in Madurai, who claimed that he had stolen valuables from her car.

However, following the custodial death, scrutiny turned toward Nikitha herself. Reports have since emerged suggesting she is entangled in several fraud-related cases, raising questions about the legitimacy of her original complaint and the police’s response.

Nikitha had been on extended leave from her college since the incident triggered a storm of criticism. According to a Daily Thanthi report, she has now quietly returned to her teaching position, even as investigations into the case continue.

Public outrage over the custodial killing remains high, with human rights groups demanding justice for Ajith Kumar and accountability from both the police and those who may have misled them.
