Chandigarh: After wielding pen to write lyrics advising motorists that they can’t escape for a song after committing traffic violations, this baton-wielding policeman in Chandigarh is now sensitising people on personal hygiene to protect self as well as the community from Covid-19 pandemic.

Assistant Sub Inspector Bhupinder Singh, posted in the traffic wing of Chandigarh Police, is urging the people through a song to take preventive measures to prevent its spread by greeting each other with folded hands instead of shaking hands.

In his less than two-minutes video on YouTube, Singh is advising people to maintain a safe distance from others. The song goes like this: “Vadian di reet kade vi na todiye, Sat Sri Akal bol hath jodie, hath na minlauna, nahi gal nal launa coronavirus toh je hai bachna loko.”

Earlier in a Punjabi song shared by the Chandigarh Police on its Twitter handle, Singh said many people are killed in road accidents and fines for traffic violations were low, which failed to deter violators.

“Now the implementation of new law has been announced. And do not complain that challans have become hefty. It will hit your kitchen budget,” says Singh’s song.

The officer and singing enthusiast urged the youth not to drive before they attain the age of 18, otherwise, their parents could land in trouble.
