AIADMK chief and Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami launched a scathing attack on the DMK-led administration, condemning what he called a sharp spike in violent incidents under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s leadership. His criticism follows two horrifying cases involving minors in Tamil Nadu.
EPS, voicing his frustration on platform X, referenced the recent tragedies — the brutal killing of 13-year-old Rohith in Krishnagiri and the mysterious death of 12th-grader Aadhitiya in Erode. “How can such crimes occur so brazenly under Stalin’s rule? Doesn’t the Chief Minister, who should be overseeing the police, care about the state’s crumbling law and order?” he asked, accusing the CM of prioritising image-building over effective governance.
Case 1: Rohith’s shocking murder in Krishnagiri
Rohith, a Class 8 student from Mavanatti, vanished on July 2. He was last seen with two youths, one from his own village. The duo allegedly drove him around before killing him, reportedly over a threat to expose one of them. His body was discovered the next day in a forest after police tracked CCTV footage and extracted confessions. Protests erupted over delayed police action.
Case 2: Aadhitiya’s death in Erode
In Erode, 17-year-old Aadhitiya was found lifeless near his school. His family suspects classmates beat him to death following a dispute over friendships with female students. Despite prior warnings, no action was taken. Two juveniles have been apprehended, and a murder case filed.
