CRPF Transforms Naxal Stronghold Gundam into Hub of Hope
In a significant move to counter Naxal influence, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has established a security camp in Gundam village, Chhattisgarh, once a Naxal bastion. Beyond security, the camp includes a free medical facility that has become a lifeline for villagers who previously struggled to access healthcare.
The medical facility provides essential treatment for illnesses like malaria, a common epidemic in the region. Kumar Sani, a CRPF jawan undergoing treatment, highlighted that both villagers and jawans receive free medicines and emergency care. Dr. Adil Aziz, a CRPF doctor, stated that since the camp’s establishment, medical services have reached even the remotest villages, significantly improving public health.
The villagers, who once hesitated to seek help, now frequent the facility for timely diagnoses and treatments. Gundam resident Karti Nanda expressed gratitude for the free care and effective medicines. Cases like deliveries, skin infections, and malaria are regularly addressed, with 3–4 critical cases handled daily.
The establishment of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) has not only driven Naxals out but also rebuilt trust with locals through humanitarian initiatives. CRPF’s efforts in Gundam exemplify a strategic approach to tackling insurgency, blending security with development.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently visited the FOB, reiterating the government’s commitment to ending Naxalism and uplifting affected regions. Gundam, once a hub for Maoist activities, now symbolizes a beacon of hope and resilience.
