Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was administered insulin inside Tihar jail on Tuesday after a prolonged struggle, as stated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a social media post. Kejriwal had previously written a letter to the jail superintendent expressing his concerns regarding statements made by the administration regarding his insulin needs.

Kejriwal’s Letter to Jail Superintendent

In his letter, Kejriwal refuted the administration’s claims and emphasized that he had been requesting insulin daily due to his escalating sugar levels. He cited glucose meter readings, indicating sugar levels between 250 to 320, and fasting sugar levels ranging from 160 to 200.

Discrepancies in Statements

Kejriwal expressed disappointment over the Tihar administration’s assertions and criticized them for issuing false statements under political pressure. He highlighted the contradiction between the administration’s claims and his repeated demands for insulin.

Concerns Over AIIMS Doctors’ Statements

The Delhi CM also raised concerns regarding statements attributed to AIIMS doctors, clarifying that they had not assured him that there was nothing to worry about. He accused the administration of misrepresenting the doctors’ advice and urged them to adhere to legal and constitutional obligations.

Allegations Against Enforcement Directorate and Tihar Officials

AAP leader Atishi alleged a conspiracy by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Tihar officials to prevent Kejriwal from receiving insulin in jail. Atishi claimed that the authorities opposed Kejriwal’s application to consult his doctor via video conferencing and start insulin treatment, asserting that he did not require insulin.

Conclusion

The administration’s handling of Kejriwal’s insulin needs has sparked controversy, with AAP accusing them of political interference and misrepresentation. Kejriwal’s struggles with his health while in jail have raised concerns, prompting calls for transparency and adherence to medical protocols.
