The Chief Minister’s challenge to Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam was deemed “not sustainable” by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday. This was especially true in light of the Enforcement Directorate’s claim that it possesses evidence of his collaboration in the creation of the now-scrapped rule.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader – whom the Enforcement Directorate has dubbed the scam’s “kingpin” – will remain in Delhi’s Tihar Jail till April 15, in line with a city court’s order last week. The ED – which had custody of Mr Kejriwal after his arrest – did not seek an extension, but did argue against his release, claiming the AAP leader had been “uncooperative” during multiple interrogation sessions.
