New Delhi: The Ministry of Law and Justice, under the Central Government, officially declared the elevation of Chief Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale to the esteemed position of a Supreme Court Judge in India. The announcement was made on Wednesday, following the powers vested in the appointment process by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India.
Currently serving as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Justice Varale’s appointment to the Supreme Court is a testament to his legal acumen and experience. According to a notification from the law ministry, the President, exercising the authority granted by Article 124(2), has appointed Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale to the esteemed position. The appointment will take effect from the date he assumes the responsibilities of the office.
The official statement from the law ministry reads, “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Prasarma Bhalachandra Varale, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, to be a Judge of the Supreme Court of India, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.” This appointment reflects the government’s commitment to upholding the judiciary’s integrity and ensuring the highest standards in the legal system.
