Tensions flared at a DJ party in a resto bar in Kathrikadavu, Kochi, on Saturday night, leading to a violent altercation and the registration of two FIRs by the Ernakulam North police. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m.
According to police, a 39-year-old man from Thodupuzha claimed he was struck on the head with a wine glass by a woman, leaving a deep injury behind his left ear. Based on his complaint, a case for causing hurt was registered.
However, the woman—reportedly from Udayamperoor—countered with a statement alleging she acted in self-defence after the man repeatedly misbehaved with her during the party. Both individuals were accompanied by separate groups of friends at the venue.
Police sources revealed that preliminary findings lend credibility to the woman’s claims of harassment. A notice was issued to her under the assault case, but she was allowed to leave afterward. No arrests have been made yet in either case, and investigations are ongoing.
