An Indian entrepreneur based overseas has shared screenshots of his family WhatsApp group, revealing his mother’s anxiety as drone interceptions and missile debris incidents were reported in Dubai amid escalating tensions in West Asia.
Prakash Dadlani posted on X that he never imagined such conversations would take place. “Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. Never imagined my family chat would look like this one day,” he wrote.
In the shared messages, his mother expressed fear, writing: “It’s scary now. No ends.”
Retaliatory strikes and interceptions
The reported incidents follow retaliatory strikes by Iran after joint US-Israel operations. While Iran had earlier warned of targeting US military assets in the region, multiple Gulf cities reported missile and drone activity over the weekend.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates confirmed that air defence systems intercepted incoming threats. According to an official Dubai media office statement, two people were injured after shrapnel from intercepted drones fell on residential houses.
Reports also indicated that areas near Jebel Ali Port and around Dubai’s aviation infrastructure experienced limited damage following interceptions. However, officials emphasised that the situation remains under control and daily life continues in most parts of the city.

Dadlani’s post garnered significant attention online, with thousands of users expressing concern for residents in the UAE. Several commented that they had friends and family in Dubai and were anxiously monitoring updates.
Despite visible anxiety among expatriate communities, residents have described the incidents as localised and limited. Roads remain open and commercial centres operational, though authorities have introduced precautionary measures and heightened security.
As tensions continue across West Asia, Gulf states remain on alert, balancing public reassurance with increased defensive preparedness.
