New Delhi: The Election Commission on Saturday  released Lok Sabha constituency-wise data detailing the votes cast in the five phases of the elections. This development followed a decision by the Supreme Court to reject an NGO’s plea urging the ECI to upload authenticated, scanned, and legible copies of Form 17C, which displays the account of votes recorded booth-wise.

In its announcement, the ECI highlighted  its commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process, noting a visible pattern aimed at fabricating false narratives to disrupt elections. The commission reaffirmed that any manipulation of the number of votes cast is not feasible.

Furthermore, the Election Commission declared its intent to enhance the format of turnout data by incorporating the absolute number of voters in each parliamentary constituency. These absolute figures can be calculated by applying the turnout percentage to the total electors, which are already accessible to the public.

It clarified the distinction between electors, who are individuals listed on the electoral roll and eligible to vote, and voters, who actually participate in the electoral process. While the EC had previously disclosed turnout percentages, there had been mounting demands for the publication of the actual number of voters in each phase.
