Cong will not Secure Official Opposition Party Status in Lok Sabha: Joshi

Joshi

Bidar: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the Congress would not secure an official opposition party position in the Lok Sabha this time. Speaking at a council poll meeting organized for BJP candidate Amarnath Patil, Joshi stated that despite the vigorous campaigning by CM Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar, the Congress would not secure more than four seats in the Lok Sabha election. He added that BJP and JDS alliance candidates would win 24 seats.

Joshi remarked that if Assembly elections were held today, considering the government’s functioning and the state’s law and order situation, the Congress would not secure 35 seats out of the 135 they previously won. He accused the Congress party of only partially implementing two out of the promised five guarantees. Furthermore, he criticized the lack of development works since Siddaramaiah assumed office.

Alleging that Congress leaders and MLAs are deprived of commissions due to the absence of significant development projects, Joshi claimed that their involvement in police transfer business has contributed to an increase in the crime rate in the state. He claimed that while they used to benefit from commissions in development projects, they are now resorting to other means to maintain their income.
