In a dramatic protest, an electric scooter owner in Chennai set his Ather scooter on fire outside a showroom in Ambattur on Wednesday. Parthasarathy, a resident of Thirumullaivayal, claimed the vehicle had been plagued with ongoing issues since he purchased it for Rs 1.80 lakh. Despite multiple visits to the service center, the problems were never resolved, leading to his frustration.
In an attempt to get the showroom’s attention, Parthasarathy brought the scooter to the showroom and set it on fire. Thankfully, bystanders quickly extinguished the flames before the situation worsened. A video that surfaced online showed Parthasarathy voicing his grievances outside the showroom, while a woman attempted to calm him down. He was also seen discussing the issue with police personnel.
The incident caused a traffic jam near the showroom, prompting the police to disperse the crowd. The showroom staff assured Parthasarathy that they would address his concerns promptly. The scooter was then taken for a thorough inspection, particularly to check for any damage to the battery pack that could pose a safety risk.
