Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials are poised to apprehend certain family members of BRS MLC K. Kavitha in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. The ED had conducted raids on the residences of her nephew Meka Sri Sharan Rao and sister-in-law Akila on March 23. With Kavitha’s police custody set to conclude on Tuesday, ED officials are scheduled to present her before the Rouse Avenue court and file a petition seeking an extension of two more days’ custody to interrogate her alongside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Reports suggest that officials delved into Kavitha’s financial dealings and income sources. They reportedly interrogated her based on suspicions arising from her nephew Sharan Rao’s mobile data, indicating his alleged involvement in transferring ₹100 crore to Delhi and disbursing funds to AAP leaders at her behest. Sharan Rao is currently evading authorities. Kavitha vehemently denied any wrongdoing, attributing the case against her to political vendetta.

Earlier, the court had stipulated that the ED custody of the accused must adhere to certain conditions, including interrogation at a location equipped with CCTV cameras and footage preservation. Kavitha may be granted permission to meet select family members, including her husband Dr. Anil Kumar, brother K.T. Rama Rao, sister-in-law M. Manjula, son D. Aaditya, sister B. Nanitha, PA Sharath Chandra, and advocate P. Mohith Rao. Additionally, Kavitha successfully petitioned the court to allow her home-cooked meals to adhere to medically prescribed dietary requirements.
