Mangaluru: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) hosted the Prof. Prakash P. Karat Endowment Lecture – 2024 at Sanidhya Hall on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Prof. Arumugam Thamizhavel, Professor, Department of Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research delivered the lecture on the topic “Crystal Growth and Anisotropic Studies of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems and Topological Semimetals”.
Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Vice Chancellor, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru presided.
The guests of honour were Dr A.P. Radhakrishna, Formerly Head of the Department at St Philomena College, Puttur, and Prof. Prakash P. Karat, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Postgraduate Studies in Physics at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru.
Students, Research Scholars and Professors of Physics attended the lecture.
The Vice Chancellor released a book titled “Decadal Odyssey in Physics: A Chronicle of the PPK Endowment Lecture Series,” containing representative chapters of the previous lectures, to commemorate the tenth lecture.
Dr Chandra Shekhara Shetty T, Research Co-ordinator was the editor of the book.
Students and admirers of Prof. Prakash P. Karat, in association with the Department of Physics at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, organized the endowment lecture.
