A 35-year-old man, Pankaj, tragically died of a suspected heart attack while working out at a gym in Faridabad on Tuesday morning. The incident took place at the Srauta Gym and Wellness Club in Sector-8, where he had been a regular for the past five months.
CCTV footage shows Pankaj arriving at the gym around 10 am after having a cup of black coffee. He began his workout with shoulder exercises and later moved to triceps extensions. At approximately 10:22 am, just two minutes into the triceps routine, he suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Another gym member, alarmed by the sound, approached and quickly called for help. Several others joined in, attempting to revive him by splashing water on his face. Emergency medical personnel from a nearby private hospital arrived shortly after, but Pankaj was declared dead at the scene.
Puneet, his gym trainer, said Pankaj was not doing strenuous exercises at the time. “He wasn’t lifting heavy weights. But due to his body weight of 175 kg, we couldn’t immediately move him to a hospital. The doctors were called without delay,” Puneet explained.
Police have registered the incident and sent the body for postmortem at BK Hospital. Pankaj was a businessman by profession.
His sudden death has raised concerns about cardiovascular health risks, especially for individuals with high body weight engaging in physical activity without medical supervision.
