Investigators probing the shocking killing of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav by her father, Deepak Yadav, have uncovered striking details about his affluent lifestyle.

Deepak, 49, confessed to shooting his daughter in their upscale Sushant Lok home in Gurugram last Thursday morning. He fired five rounds, three of which struck her from behind while she was preparing breakfast.

According to an acquaintance from Deepak’s native Wazirabad village, he owns several rental properties across Gurugram, bringing in monthly earnings of ₹15–17 lakh. He also maintained a luxury farmhouse. “Everyone here knows he is rich,” the acquaintance told NDTV, adding that acquiring a licensed .32 bore revolver like the one used requires significant money and influence.

Tensions had reportedly simmered for months. Police said Deepak was upset over Radhika’s financial independence, her presence on social media, and her recent appearance in a music video. He allegedly resented taunts suggesting he relied on his daughter’s earnings.

However, the acquaintance disputed this motive, insisting Deepak never needed her income. “Who would say that about someone with so much wealth? He sacrificed his own education to support her tennis career,” the acquaintance claimed.

The shooting occurred in the family’s two-storey house. Radhika’s uncle Kuldeep Yadav, who lived downstairs, rushed upstairs after hearing gunshots and found her collapsed in the kitchen. She was taken to Asia Maringo Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
