In response to rising cases of fever during the ongoing monsoon, the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation (VMC) has rolled out a comprehensive fever survey across all 50 divisions of the Fort City.
Under the direction of VMC Commissioner P. Nallanayya, medical and health teams have begun conducting door-to-door visits to track and record fever cases. The initiative is aimed at identifying early signs of viral infections and preventing their spread, especially in vulnerable slum areas.
In a statement to the press, Commissioner Nallanayya explained that the collected data would help authorities organise targeted health camps where necessary. He emphasized that slum pockets would be a key focus due to higher risk of outbreaks in congested areas.
Hospitals across the city have been instructed to share daily reports on fever-related cases. This data will be used to monitor trends and implement preventive strategies swiftly.
Additionally, the sanitation department has been tasked with intensified efforts. These include fogging operations, garbage clearance, and removal of weeds, particularly around city fringes where stagnant water and unclean surroundings contribute to mosquito breeding.
The Commissioner assured that all VMC-run healthcare facilities have been stocked with essential medicines and are fully equipped to handle the situation.
