Uttarakhand: Amidst lockdown, the ‘Panchmukhi Doli Yatra’ procession held ahead of opening of Kedaarnath Shrine, was held in absence of devotees.

The Kedarnath shrine is set to open on Paril 29 and the yatra, which is usually led by the Kumao Battalion of the Army is witnessed by over 1000 pilgrims each year.

However, this year, keeping the lockdown norms in mind, only five peple from the Kedarnath Temple performed the yatra.

The Char Dham yatra, the opening ceremony of the four temples in Uttarakhand, is an important annual event for the faithful who attend it in large numbers.

On April 27, Kedarnath devotees today carried a palanquin with Lord Panchmukhi’s idol wading through a bed of at least 10 feet of snow.

The annual Char Dham Yatra began on Saturday with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Garhwal Himalayas.

The Utsav Doli of Baba Kedar (Lord Shiva) also left from Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath on Sunday for Kedarnath.
