Gurugram, Aug 25: At a time when Gurugram has been facing criticism for its garbage-filled roads and poor civic infrastructure, a group of foreign nationals has taken matters into their own hands by cleaning streets and drains in the city.

A video of the drive has gone viral, showing foreigners — joined by some local residents — removing heaps of garbage from the roads and clogged drains. While the act has earned praise online, it has also drawn sharp criticism toward the municipal authorities for failing in their basic responsibilities.

“India Is Amazing, But…”

One of the participants, Serbian influencer Lazar, whose initiative to clean one street a day till Independence Day had already gained attention, explained the motivation behind the effort.

“India is amazing. The only problem is that people also need to take care of things outside their homes. Indian people are among the cleanest on the planet… but the moment it’s about public spaces, they think it’s not their issue. We have to change that,” Lazar told ANI.
