In a troubling incident that unfolded aboard an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, a passenger who was caught on camera slapping another passenger during a panic attack has been placed on the airline’s ‘No Fly List’.
IndiGo issued a statement confirming the suspension, citing adherence to regulatory guidelines and a commitment to deterring unruly in-flight behavior. “The individual has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights,” the airline said, adding that the safety of customers and crew remains paramount.
The altercation, which quickly went viral on social media, shows the assaulter striking Hussain Ahmed Mazumdar, a passenger suffering from a panic attack. When questioned by others, the accused responded vaguely, saying, “I was having problem.” He was handed over to authorities upon landing.
However, a new twist has emerged—Hussain has since gone missing. A native of Cachar district in Assam, he was scheduled to take a connecting flight to Silchar, but never arrived. His family, who had been waiting at the Silchar airport, confirmed they last spoke to him after he landed in Kolkata. His phone has remained switched off since.
Despite reaching out to IndiGo, the family claims they received no clear answers. A missing person’s complaint has been filed at Kachiguda Police Station, and they’ve appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for intervention.
