Thrissur: The Thrissur railway station in Kerala has reportedly been put on alert, fearing a possible ISIS attack targeting the Sabarimala pilgrims.

The intelligence report has hinted at the possibility of the poisoning of potable water at the station and following this, the station master has been advised to carry out a safety audit of the food and water provided to Sabarimala pilgrims and other commuters.

Meanwhile, State police chief Loknath Behera, while stating that there is no need to panic, has said that there are a lot of threat messages circulating on social media allegedly from the ISIS, all of which are being investigated by the police.

A couple of weeks prior, reports had emerged about a Malayali audio clip which called for a war against India and the execution of lone wolf attacks on Indian festivals like Kumbh mela and Thirssur Pooram. This audio clip was possibly sent over Telegram messenger by Rashid Abdullah, former head of Kasaragod’s ISIS module, who is currently in Afghanistan. In this clip he is heard asking his fellow terrorists to poison food and use trucks to carry out terror attacks.

It is suspected that over 100 people from Kerala have come into the folds of the dreaded terror outfit and over 300 voice messages propagating hate are found on social networking sites.
