Hyderabad: The killing of all four accused in the brutal gang-rape and murder of a young veterinarian by the police in an ‘encounter’ early Friday was hailed by people who were demanding justice for the victim.

A large number of people who gathered close to the ‘encounter’ scene near Shadnagar town raised slogans hailing Telangana police and Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar. Some of them said the police delivered “instant justice” by eliminating the perpetrators of the gruesome crime. The police gunned down all the four accused at the same place, where they were taken by the investigating officials to recreate the crime scene.

Justice done!

The family of a young veterinarian in Hyderabad who was brutally gang raped and murdered, on Friday said that justice has been done.
“This will make her rest in peace,” the victim’s father told reporters at his residence in Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He thanked the Telangana government, police and all others who stood by them. “I am not going to get back my daughter but this will definitely send a strong message. This will instill fear and criminals will not dare to do what my daughter had to go through,” said he added.

Nirbhaya’s father hails Telangana police

The father of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim ‘Nirbhaya’, on Friday backed the Telangana police for killing all the four accused in the brutal gang rape and murder of a young veterinarian in an ‘encounter’.

“I feel they have done a very nice job. If they had escaped, there would have been questions about how the police let them escape. Also, it would have been difficult to arrest them again. Even if it (their arrest) would have happened, the whole procedure of punishing them would take unfathomable time,” he said.

NCW terms encounter as ‘Good’

National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma has said that the police’s ‘encounter killing’ of the accused in the Hyderabad rape case is “good”. While talking to IANS Sharma said that “It is a good decision on the part of the police,” adding “But it is subject to investigation because I wanted that the culprits should have been punished as per the legal process but what police did at that time looking at the circumstances is a good decision”.

Salute U, says Saina Nehwal

Shuttler Saina Nehwal on Friday lauded Hyderabad police for killing all four accused in the rape and murder of a veterinarian in Telangana.

“Great work #hyderabadpolice ..we salute u,” Nehwal tweeted.

Biggest incident

Veteran leader and National Vice-President of BJP Uma Bharti took to Twitter to express her sentiments on the incident.

In a series of tweets, she hailed Telangana police for quick action. “This is the biggest incident in the 19th year of this century that guarantees women safety. All police officials, who have done this deserve respect. It will develop a sense of security in women in other states of the country…Jai (salute) Telangana police.”

Country relieved by this encounter

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “The whole country is relieved by this encounter. They have been punished for what they did. Justice has been delivered. I can imagine how painful it would have been for that daughter who was brutally raped first and then burnt alive.” Commenting on the lengthy legal process he said, “We made a provision for capital punishment in such matters but no culprit has been hanged till date due to long legal procedures of lower courts, high courts, Supreme Court, and mercy petitions. Justice delayed is justice denied.”

Thank Hyd police on behalf of every daughter, father

Shiromani Akali Dal leader leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said “On the behalf of every daughter and father of this country I want to thank Hyderabad police for their action in Hyderabad rape and murder case of the doctor. Such culprits should be handed over to people for quick justice. I would also request the courts not to grant bail in such crimes because it is not a bail, it is a certificate for them to commit such a crime again.”

After committing the gang-rape at Shamshabad near Hyderabad on the night of November 27, the accused had dumped the body and set it afire at Chatanpally near Shadnagar, about 50 kms from Hyderabad.

The police gunned down all the four accused at the same place, where they were taken by the investigating officials to recreate the crime scene. Shadnagar town had witnessed massive protests on November 30, a day after the accused were arrested. The protesters who had gathered outside the police station had demanded that the accused be handed over to them so that they could be dealt with.

Police had a tough time controlling the crowd and they had to bring the magistrate to the police station to send the accused to judicial custody. The protesters had pelted stones when the police were shifting the accused to Cherlapally Jail in Hyderabad.
