Mumbai: Actor-model Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as the ‘Kaanta Laga Girl’, passed away on Friday night at the age of 42 at her residence in Oshiwara. Her sudden death has left fans and the entertainment industry in shock.
Jariwala was reportedly rushed to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital in Andheri by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and three others after she began shivering and collapsed. Doctors declared her dead on arrival. The cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.
According to police sources, she had taken her routine medication and an anti-aging injection earlier in the day under medical supervision. She had also fasted the entire day due to a puja at home, which may have triggered a severe drop in blood pressure. Authorities suspect a cardiac arrest, possibly worsened by the fasting and medication on an empty stomach.
Mumbai Police were informed around 1 a.m. and subsequently sent her body to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem. A police team, along with forensic experts, collected medicines, pills, and injection samples from her home for analysis.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam stated that there is no sign of foul play so far. An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered, and the police have recorded statements from at least eight individuals, including her husband, house staff, and the building’s security guard.
Shefali rose to fame with the early 2000s hit music video Kaanta Laga and later appeared in Bigg Boss 13. Her final rites were conducted at Oshiwara crematorium on Saturday.
