Keep immature Rahul home, why send him to UP: Amit Shah to Congress

Gorakhpur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national President Amit Shah on Friday targeted Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi after former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s remarks that he needed more time to “mature”, saying “immature Rahul should be kept at home” instead of being sent to Uttar Pradesh.

Dikshit, in an interview, said the Congress leader was immature and needed more time to season up.

Addressing an election rally here, Shah said, if such is the case then the Gandhi scion should be asked to sit at home and groomed there. “Sheila ji, unko ghar bithao, paripakva karo, yahan UP main kyun bhej diya” (Sheilaji keep him at home, groom him, why send him to UP),” he said as people cheered.

Slamming Rahul Gandhi for seeking the report card of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for two years of governance, the BJP chief retorted that Rahul Gandhi was better advised to take the report card of 60 years of his “great grandfather, grand mother, father and mother who ran the union government with Manmohan Singh”.

In a jibe, he said, “When these two princes – Akhilesh Yadav ad Rahul Gandhi, had nothing to show they joined hands. How can they do something good for UP when one’s mother is hassled by him and other’s father is fed up of his son,” the BJP president said.

He went on to attack Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and said he should hang his head in shame as his minister Gayatri Prajapati has been accused of so many crimes including gang rape.

“First a woman is gang-raped and when she goes to the police for filing of an FIR that is not done. Finally the Supreme Court had to intervene and order lodging of an FIR,” Shah said while pointing out how the Chief Minister had taken no action against the tainted minister but had instead gone to campaign for him in Amethi.

Rapping the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) for “destroying UP in the past 15 years”, Shah said that these two parties were engaged in casteist politics and had nothing to do with development.

He went on to urge the people of the state to vote for the BJP and ensure a majority government in Uttar Pradesh so that the state government and the union government work together to take the state to new heights of prosperity.
