In a major breakthrough for Kerala’s anti-drug efforts, Thrissur police arrested the alleged mastermind behind a wide-reaching MDMA trafficking network — 52-year-old Seema Sinha, a tuition teacher from Patna, Bihar. The arrest was made in Haryana by a team led by Thrissur ACP Salish N. Sankaran.
Seema came under the police radar following the arrest of two individuals, Fazal and Nejil from Chavakkad, who were caught with MDMA at Thrissur railway station in February. Their interrogation revealed that Seema had supplied them with the synthetic drug.
Further investigation exposed a significant financial trail — Seema had conducted transactions amounting to ₹20 crore over the past two years. Police discovered that she had been operating with the help of a Nigerian national, whose identity and role are now under deeper scrutiny.
Despite her outward appearance as a tuition teacher, Seema maintained a sophisticated network, using multiple bank accounts to mask large drug money transfers. Authorities say she played a crucial role in channeling drugs and funds across state lines.
The arrest is seen as a major blow to the MDMA trade in Kerala, and officials say further arrests are likely as the investigation continues to track down her contacts and international links.
